At Canns Down Press we are passionate about contemporary art and as well as publishing all things card related, we like to shine a light on some of those artists that have been a part of that journey with us and whose work we admire.
Since our new website went live last August, we have added a featured artist nearly every month to our homepage. Our very first was the amazing Anita Klein – we have published her work for a long time (since nearly the beginning!) and as a regular exhibitor at the Bankside Gallery we have love seeing her works on the wall and as greetings cards and notecard wallets! We have also featured Scottish artist Sheena Graham-George , Sophie Elm – a new artist within our Wonderland range, Eric Ravilious for his timeless imagery, and now it is the turn of Mychael Barratt!
He also has a link to the Bankside Gallery and we have met him there many a time! His playful pieces work really well as a card due to their play on some of the classic artworks from some of the best loved and well known artists. ‘Hockney’s Dogs’ are a great example as we well as a take on the ‘Big Wave’ by Hokusai – this time with a dog involved – take a look at our homepage to see his work and his website is here for more information:
Make sure you keep checking out our homepage for the latest featured artist!
Christmas 2020 was a great time to send a Christmas card – we saw a higher rate of sales as Covid 19 made it hard for so many of us to see loved ones face to face.
We work with 2 charities, the AGBI – Artist’s General Benevolent Institution – it is a small but important Arts based charity which was founded in 1814 by members of the Royal Academy of Arts including J.M.W Turner, John Constable and John Soane. It is one of the oldest charities in the United Kingdom. All of our 5 packs (5 cards of the same image with 5 envelopes) are affiliated.
We also work alongside the CPRE the Countryside Charity whose aim is to work for a beautiful, thriving countryside for everyone. This has been a more recent relationship and we have built up 6 stunning packs within this range that include 2 different Christmas images per pack x3 with very smart red envelopes! They have been hugely popular and we are looking forward to expanding this range again for 2021.
So keep a look out on our Christmas card page for all of the new card packs for this year – let’s remember to stay in touch at this special time of year.
It has been a strange and difficult start to the year for so many of us, but even throughout the lockdown we wanted to bring some lightness with our cards.
We published 21 new ones in January and we hope you have enjoyed seeing them on the website, via our newsletter and even in the shops that we supply who have an online presence.
Here’s hoping you’ll see them a little bit more when Spring kicks in!
See all of our new cards on our Just Published page.
It can be hard to decide how to package gift wrap! We are pleased to announce though that we are now posting our gift wrap free of charge. It will come neatly folded into your parcel with your cards. BUT, if you are looking for a non folded piece, then simply add our ‘tube’ to your basket and we’ll make sure all of your wrap is carefully rolled before sending. Simple!
This comes with a lovely tale of a customer who got in touch with the office to talk about her mother’s birthday! She wanted to choose some cards for her mum who lived in France as she wouldn’t be able to reach any of the shops that stock us. But she couldn’t decide which cards or gift wrap or notecards her mum would like so we created the gift cards just for her! We made a variety of prices to choose from and an email will be sent to the recipient on the day that you wish (like a birthday!) for them to simply sit down with a cup of tea and choose their favourites, all on you! It was a great call to action from a customer and we really appreciated her getting in touch. Thank you!
